SwimmingFirst combines the knowledge, experience and skills of teaching and coaching experts within the South West to deliver high quality and relevant qualifications for swimming teaching, coaching and the fitness industry.

SwimmingFirst is an accredited Swim England Approved Centre and has the seal of approval from the Swimming National Governing Body to train the next generation of Swimming Teachers & Coaches.

Jane Hushon co-ordinates the programme and wants to share the SwimmingFirst approach:

“I feel privileged to be able to teach Children how to Swim on a daily basis. Our teaching style and philosophy is based upon time served within the pool and classroom working with children and adults to overcome fear, instil confidence and develop new skills. Every new teacher needs a mentor, someone to guiding and checking until they feel confident to go solo. A key strength in our programme is that as tutors we have all mentored each other at some stage and understand how crucial this is to the process of becoming a teacher or coach.
