SEQ L2 Teaching Swimming

This is a practical and theory based qualification. It provides learners with the skills and experience to plan, deliver and evaluate swimming lessons so that they can teach independently in an aquatic environment. You will build upon the knowledge and skills gained in the SEQ L1 Swimming Assistant and learn about:

• The legal aspects of assisting in swimming lessons; risk assessments.
• The role and responsibilities of a Swimming Assistant; managing the environment.
• How we move; fundamental movement skills, core aquatic skills, swimming strokes
• How we move in water; the scientific principles
• Swimming lessons; planning, delivery, equipment, review
• Communication skills
• Planning for different groups; SEND, School, Club, Learn to Swim.

• Learners must be at least 16 years of age or older on the first day of the course.
• SEQ L2 Teaching Swimming total qualification time 63 (55 Guided Learning Hours)
